Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer - Nottingham
Description
Geotechnical Engineer Job Overview An experienced geotechnical engineer is required to join the geotechnics team of four in Infrastructure and Planning Midlands in Nottingham, a busy multi-disciplinary group. The candidate is required to have strong technical skills and an interest in developing into a specialist in geotechnical analysis to provide input on technically challenging commissions. Projects are highly varied including a significant amount of energy and building projects, both in the UK and overseas. The role is generally office-based in Nottingham city centre, although periods will need to be spent on site and linking with other offices as required, also potentially including occasional overseas trips. Role · To act as Lead Geotechnical Engineer for a variety of projects, at all stages from inception to completion, making a significant personal contribution to the success of projects. · To work closely with the Geotechnics Team Leader to provide specialist advice on technically challenging projects. Some projects require consideration of earthquake loading. · To assist in the technical development of other team members. · To participate and develop relationships within the company's geotechnical skills network and with external organisations. · Technical and financial management and control of projects. · Day-to-day liaison with clients. · To report to the geotechnical team leader and work with others within the skills group or project teams, as required. Requirements · A first degree in Civil Engineering (or possibly Engineering Geology) or equivalent is required. An MSc in a geotechnical subject would also be desirable. · Strong geotechnical design skills, in particular in geotechnical analysis, are essential. · Good planning and organisational skills are required, to work on multiple tasks /contemporaneously. · Good communication skills are required, ideally with a strong report-writing ability. · It is preferred that the candidate is chartered, although this is not essential. · A full driving license is required.
